The "1er. festival de cine movil La Piedad 2009" aka known as "la piedad mobile film festival" has just begun. Nowadays almost everyone has a cell phone with video camera, so the propose is that the contestants record a story, a movie with their cell phone.
It's not the first time that a festival like this is organized, in the world there are some others like the "festival pocket film" in France, the "celu film fest" in Argentina or the "cortoFonino film festival" in Italy. But it'll be the first at least in the Mexican state of Michoacan.
RULES & GUIDELINES
1 - The film festival will start with a minimum of 5 films and 3 jugdes at least (the first 3 people who send a mail).
2 - The last day to register as a contestant is may 31th 2009. A day after that (june first) in this blog will be published the rest of the dates, the deadline to upload the video and the day when the winner will be announced.
3 - The people of the jury will be 3 volunteers and me.
4 - People who wants to be judges and contestants must send an e-mail to jcsandot@yahoo.com.mx telling in the title "i want to be a contestant in the festival" or "i want to be a judge in the festival".
5 - Contestants cannot be judges and judges cannot upload videos for the festival.
6 - Movies can be edited with the software shipped with the cell phone or a more professional software will be allowed to be used, like adobe premiere or final cut.
7 - Contestants must upload their video to youtube before the deadline, so the judges have time to see them.
8 - The duration of the video must be 30 segundos as a minimum and 10 minutes as a maximum (that is youtube's restriction).
9 - Only 1 movie per contestant will be allowed.
10 - In order to deliver the award a copy of the videos recorded with the cell phone must be sent to the festival's organizers (to avoid that people participate without making a movie =)
11 - The history it's free but movies that promote pornography, violence or racism wont be accepted.
12 - Movies cannot include videos recorded with professional video cameras, only videos recorded with the cell phone's camera.
12 - If a change would apply to these rules , it'll be announced through this blog.
The award for the first (and only) place will be $1000 pesos (mexican) and it'll be given in the city of la piedad michoacan in a date to specify, or if the winner wants, he / she can choose a book in amazon which price is lower than $500 pesos (mexican, where 1 dollar = 10 pesos), the winner tell us an address to send the book and the book will be sent.
